Happy 2009!

Happy New Year Everyone! 2008 in a sentence...Jack the 2-yr-old, bedrest, Baby Quinn (holy cow we are the parents of 2 boys!), Scott's new job, golf season, Jenny's new job, Christmas, Jack the 3-yr-old! And of course many little wonderful things in between! We can't wait to see what 2009 brings!

Happy Birthday Jack Michael Thorson!

Oh, Jack, I really can't believe that you are 3! You, who made us a family three years ago(after much pushing by mommy!), are now the light of our lives and keep us laughing everyday. You have become so darn smart and tell us exactly what you are thinking and feeling! You learn quickly, always saying "please, thank you, excuse me, and I love you" and then to balance all of that sweetness you say "wipe Jack's stinky bottom," "stop talking to me", and "NO Baby can't get it"
You love your trains-Gordon, Henry and Spencer are your favorites. There is also still an identity crisis going on in your head, as sometimes you are Jack, and sometimes you are Bob-the-Builder! Golf, trucks and books round out the rest of your time.
You have created an alter ego named "Super Guy" who amazingly can jump from chair to table to couch without getting hurt-most of the time!
While definitely being all boy, you are my softie who likes to cuddle, be held and tell us that we are your "best friends". When Daddy or I have to go to work you say "darn it" and really just want to be here playing as a family.
Everytime I look at you it seems that you have grown an inch and learned a new talent, if you could just take it a little slower and be little forever...You make me unbelievably happy by just being you and I am very proud to be your Mommy!

Merry Christmases!

Wow! What a Merry Christmas we had, and had, and had.... 3 cities and too many noise making toys to count, we are back home trying to find more square footage to store our new treasures! Jack was very into opening this year, that is until he opened that one thing that I guess he really wanted, Spencer the Train, then he just wanted to play with his new best friend (if only Santa would have told us that this was all he wanted...)Quinn was new at the present thing and really just wanted everyone to look at him while he ate the paper! The boys had so much fun playing with Uncle Steve and cousins Sadie and Sara, I am afraid that they think that I am little boring after all of the excitement! Hope everyone's Christmas was merry and bright! By the way-anyone with me on just giving the kids wrapping paper, bows, balloons and boxes next year? Throw in a few finds from Target's Dollar Spot and they are set!

Ride that ChooChoo!

Not too much new and exciting going on here at the Thorson's, just lots of playing and one notable shopping spree in a snowstorm (Scott and I went and did all of our Christmas shopping in 1 day while 6 inches of snow was piling up outside! We sure had our run of the stores though-must have been the only ones dumb enough to be out!)I am definitely in the Christmas mood now! If I could just get someone to address these Christmas cards for me...
We have been spending most of our time in the basement playing and thinking up new and silly games to pass the time. One of the favorites seems to be "train" It doesn't seem to matter if we just line up the chairs or they actually sit on Thomas the Train, as long as Mommy is singing "Come on ride the train, and ride it, whoo whoo" its all good! Soon enough they will realize that their mommy is NOT a singer!

Santa says "Ho Ho Ho"

On Saturday the Holstein Kiwanis held their annual "Lunch with Santa" As parents of toddlers we never know how our kids will react to the big guy-we've all seen the screaming children in the mall. Jack marched right up, sat on Santa's lap, and said (very loudly) "trains and trucks" I guess he gets it! Then Santa gave him a Milky Way and sealed the deal for life! Quinn also had no fear, and just really wanted to grab Santa's nose. A successful Santa lap sit by all.

Last week(I think Tuesday-my brain was left somewhere between loads 8 and 9 of laundry!) we got outside to take advantage of 50degree weather (in December!) We took a stroller ride, and searched for some snow to play in, we succeeded at Grandma's, though it was only a small pile (notice the grass in the background)Fun times!

A Happy End to a Thankful Weekend

The Thorson house has been full of activity since last Thursday. Starting with a great Thanksgiving at Mom and Dad's with 15 adults and 3 babies in attendence. The food was wonderful, and we were all thankful for comfy couches that afternoon. We got to meet my cousin Alison's new baby, Bennet-so stinkin' cute and cuddly. Alison and I are only 3 months apart and grew up together, were in eachother's weddings and now are watching our children grow.

Guess I was too busy helping(or eating) to get any group shots of the day. But here's one of Quinn charming the ladies sans clothes (watch out for this one!)

Grandpa Stu and Grandma Sally came to stay on Friday. They took Scott and Jack bowling while Quinn and I partied w/ the bloggers on Friday night. It really was fun to see everyone in person, gotta love Holstein friends! We also got to catch up with many others including, our bestest friend Kelli later that night at the Blue Eagle.
Saturday brought Kung Fu Panda and Jack's 1st experience at the movie theater. He had so much fun and sat through the entire movie. Only problem that I can see is that he has been "kung fuing" his brother ever since! We had an early bday celebration that night with a Wii tournament to follow. Unfortunately my camera was out of batteries, though I caught some America's Funniest Video-worthy moments of the Grandpa's and Grandma's bowling, boxing and cow racing on the video camera (now if I just knew how to download it...)! Hilarious!

And today is my big 29th! Though if you ask Jack, I am 3. I am quick to agree on that one! I have had a great birthday, including lunch with my husband without children and we are planning a movie date tonight.

Just want to add a few things that I am so thankful for this year and then will end this book of a post!

I really can not be thankful enough for my husband. The thoughtfulness. attentiveness and helpfulness that you provide are without measure. I definitely could not be doing this without you. I love you Scott!
My Jack, really each day would be missing so many laughs without you! You amaze me each day of what that little mind of yours is learning. You have become so polite and smart. I love you!
Sweet baby Quinn. I just really can't believe that you are approaching 1. Doesn't seem that long ago that I was lying on the couch praying for you to stay in my tummy long enough to be healthy, and now here you are crawling, standing, laughing and brightening every day. I love you!
My list of wants wittles to nothing when I think of all the blessings in my life!
