Saturday fun

We had a great Saturday once again. The weather was beautiful, my parents came for a visit and Sadie and Sara were here to play! Fun had by all, and thanks to Stu and Sally for the great food and accomodations!

We got out on the golf course for the 1st time last Thursday-Jack almost peed his pants when Scott woke him up from his nap and told him! (ok so his pants were already soaked, but you know what I mean!)

Saturday

Scott had the day off, so we loaded up and headed to Waterloo. We shopped for great ideas for our house and couldn't resist some cute summer clothes because the weather was gorgeous. We made our 2nd visit to the Center for the Arts and played at the Children's Pavillion.

I mean this isn't my 1st go 'round. A one year-old, ravioli, and a white shirt don't mix! (but he sure looks happy!)

Holstein Fun

The boys and I spent Monday-Thursday in Holstein and except for the 6hrs of not-Quinn-friendly travel time, and the morning Dad and I ice-skated to and from the truck packing up the rest of the garage, we had a great time. The boys had much needed "Papa and Mom" time




Mom, the boys and I made the trip to Sioux City to check in on my Grandma
and Grandpa, who are sadly apart for the time being while Grandpa recovers from a fall, and shopped with Aunt Nancy.
We also had lunch with Katie, Brady and Jenny. And loved on Luke, while Jack helped Lillian destroy the toy room!
And oh yeah, turned over the keys to our old and 1st home and received a nice check to deposit :)

Golf Addict

Bet you were all thinking that I was talking about my husband...nope, just Jack. the other night after he had supposedly been sleeping for hours, Scott and I went down to "our apartment" to go to bed to find this...

and the laundry room door shut and Jack inside doing this...

No one else to blame but my husband for the addiction our 3yr-old is facing!

Rice Machines

So I stole this idea from another "blog mom" but it is so great that I also had to post about it. Basically trying to come up with things to keep her children busy during all of the inside hours of winter, she came up with all of these great, easy, inexpensive ideas. Jack happens to love the rice or shaving cream in a cookie-sheet one. You just dump the rice in, add some trucks or trains, and let them go at it, making roads and dumps and such. The shaving cream works like snow, so he likes his trains to be "moving it off the tracks" Just thought I would let you in on the secret to some much deserved quiet time!

Warm, Cold, and Everything in Between

Well, its been a week. New town, new job, orientation, every hour potty breaks, and TRYING to keep Grandma Sally's house in one piece (trying being the key word) has kept us busy.
The weather was gorgeous on Thursday and Friday, so the boys and I had a picnic at the Kid's Kingdom park-no pictures of this because if I wasn't getting them to "take a bite" I was keeping Quinn out of "too small for mommies" places at the park! Oh and Jack had his 1st outdoor pee, he was pumped! We also took a few walks around the neighborhood, definitely not missing a mud puddle on our way, and did some "work" with a shovel and broom on Papa Stu's deck.



I went to a party with Amy (my sister-in-law) on Saturday after a little shopping, it was a wonderful boy-free break!
Then in true Iowa fashion, after raining all day Saturday, it snowed a few inches on Sunday-I really had thought I could put my boots away...Anyway while Kinnick had a hayday in the snow.
We loaded up the kids for more summertime acitvities indoors. We went swimming at Wartburg's new rec center-greatfun-though definitely looking terrible in my pasty whiteness and winter insulation while wearing a swimsuit-oh well...


This week the kids and I will head to Holstein for our house closing (YAY!!!) and visit "Mom and Papa", Lillian and Luke, Brady, Cayden and Kellen, and, oh yeah, my friends too! Can't wait!

Moving Day and a small Haircut

Let me just start by saying, moving with 2 small children is not for lightweights! Probably many have moved more than us, and I knew that packing up and loading all of our belongings would not be a walk in the park, but the last time we moved it was just the 2 of us, and man! do kids come with a lot of stuff...
We all got a good laugh watching Scott drive the truck (in fact Duff went with him to get it, just for the chuckles he had all the way home)and try to manuever it onto the icy/snowy yard. Jack thought that using tools to disassemble beds and having a huge"dump" truck in his yard was the greatest thing since bob-the-builder, and Quinn just wanted to climb on the stacked boxes-nothing new there.
Scott and my Dad worked like dogs to load that truck, with a few laughs and jokes in between (they must have done a pretty good job becuase not a scratch was found on our furniture!) My friends Julie and Deb came to help pack, my Mom and Scott's parents watched the kids, and I guess I must have just been the foreman, because I remember bossing a lot and not really doing too much work (Don't even think about touching that one, Scott and Steve!)



Stu and Sally left with the kids on Saturday, and that was really hard. They had no idea what was really happening, but we did, and we all cried for awhile. Then Scott and I went to the club and had too many cocktails, just what the Dr. ordered! Though Julie, Deb and I must have been too busy laughing as we packed my closet becuase I didn't have a pair of jeans or shoes to wear that night!


The drive on Sunday was smooth, and the unloading even smoother, thanks to Waverly neighbors helping hands. We have made quite an apartment for ourselves in the basement, and couldn't ask for more accomodating landlords :)
I guess that's all, just some crash course potty training so Jack can go to daycare and be in the 3yr old room-darn rules...Oh and a before and after picture of Quinn's 1st bang trim...and the wonderful invention of Sam's Club's carts, made for Mom's with 2 small children!


Now on to that potty training!
