Everything

So I'm putting an end to my blog funk. Not sure what my problem is/was but its over and I'm back. I just caught up with all of your wonderful blogs and am feeling the blog love. This post is gonna be the dreaded "mile-long catchup on an entire month's worth of happenings" and them I am going back to fun blogging...

Soooo. Where to start, I even had to jot stuff down so I wouldn't miss anything.

We had a hard ending to March/beginning of April. My Grandpa Goodwin passed away after a short  hospital stay after 92 years of enjoying life. I am so glad that Jack and Quinn got to know him and are old enough to always remember.

Because man is he worth remembering! I have loads of memories of laughing, teasing, diet pepsi drinking, garage working, coffee getting, and meat price talking with my Grandpa. And it also is worth noting that he and my Grandma were married for 68 years, almost all of which were lived in the same house, working the same business-love I tell you. Grandpa you are missed like crazy.

We were able to spend some quality time with the fam while home.

Mariam showing Jack how its done!

2 short weeks later, Scott's Grandma Lorraine passed away in her sleep. If only we all can die so peacefully after 93 years of living life. Unfortunately the last few years of Grandma Rainy's life were spent in the thick of Alzheimers, though we, and especially Scott, has wonderful memories of her golfing, singing and visits to Arizona. You are missed Rainy.

Of course there is a 3rd thing... Scott and I had been thinking for a long while that Kinnick was needing more room to run, and someone that had more time to love on her the way she should be (I know this sounds awful and like irresponsible pet owners, but I really feel like we were thinking of her well being) We waited a long time, talked to lots of people and found a wonderful family who lives on an acreage with a stream! and has 3 kids. We have kept in contact, and the last report was that she has been swimming everyday, and is sleeping at the foot of the bed each night. I'd say she is loved. What a good pup you are Kinnick, you will always be our first baby.

Onto Jack.

He has had quite a month. Scott and I both got to spend a day with him at preschool for "Dad's" and "Mom's" days. It was great to watch him interact with his friends and learn the schedule they follow each day.

He also attended kindergarten round up for 2 afternoons. There was a parent meeting a week before-I had to concentrate very hard not to cry...Yikes can you imagine the actual 1st day? He LOVED it! I wasn't sure how he was going to do considering he had preschool all morning and then went to round up all afternoon-missing his nap. I worried for nothing and he was disappointed that he didn't have to go to kindergarten on the 3rd day. Writing is finally clicking and he has his first name, last name, and phone number down pat! In that same busy week, he also attended 2 birthday parties and had so much fun with his buddies.

Sporting the mask for his bestie Benny's frog party!
And also went on a field trip to Fareway.

I don't think we will live up to that week anytime soon. With the deaths earlier in the month, we had had many talks about what dying means and about heaven. We said lots of prayers that everyone can grow very old before they go to live with Jesus. He surprised me with his comment " I am not even that sad Mommy, because I know that Grandpa is in Heaven with Jesus and that makes him so happy." And then quickly followed that by, " I know Jesus, and I know that He is so happy that Grandma Kaye bought me a new transformer!" Oh Jack, that was perfect.

Mr. Quinn has been Quinn to the finest lately.

He mastered some "big" slides.

He has been fixing our hair in the evenings to "get you ready for the wedding."

Which I figured was Uncle Steve's wedding in August at which they will be the ringbearers, but after we are fixed to his satisfaction, he tells us to kiss and then pronounces us married. Though I think my favorite quote of the last month was, after walking around in the apparently cold house without a shirt on, " Mommy my boobies are ruined! They are all hard and ruined!" Hahaha I thought I was gonna lose it.

And Clay turned 10 months!

What a sweet, wild, loving, fast moving, teething, laughing, standing baby he is. I caught site of those cute "1st birthday boy" shirts at target the other day and it made me so sad to think that it won't be long before we need one. I have been loving on him so much, and letting him crawl around in his diaper so I can squeeze all of that baby softness. His hair has gotten a lot longer and is blond like Jack's, though untameable like Quinn's.

He loves to stand in the bathtub, yeah I can only get about inches away.

He has his first ride in the wagon like a big boy, and is getting used to the swings.

I couldn't resist buying him some leggings-they did have pictures of boys wearing them on the back of the package-and are the closest thing I am gonna get to tights!

We have been going on walks-weather permitting-with Clay in the Moby on my chest and 70lbs of big boys in the wagon it turns into quite a workout, but we all love it.

The boys have also already put "rock stars" on their Christmas lists after jamming with their buddy, Thomas.

Coloring Easter eggs went much smoother than last year. The boys loved using the dipper things, and I didn't feel the need for a bottle of wine afterwards.

We celebrated Easter all week. Spent the first part in Holstein playing with Grandpa Wayne and Grandma Kaye and learning the rules of tee ball.

And I got to catch up with Katie and Kelli.

The Easter Bunny was scheduled to make an Easter appearance at our house, so we traveled back to Waverly for the big day. He did come, hid the colored eggs and left too much stuff!

We had a great day of eating brunch with Daddy at the club, going to church, hunting eggs at Grandpa Stu and Grandma Sally's

and flying kites with Sadie and Sara.

Whew-that's it I'm done. What a month.
